Brilliant Words By Ellie Dow

Today after school my mom showed us this paper about growing up that she found somewhere and loved it so much that she wrote it down. This paper describes transforming from child to adult in such a beautiful, and brilliant way. Here it is, I hope you like it.Enjoy!

After a while you learn the subtle difference
Between holding a hand and chaining a soul.
And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning
and company doesn't mean security.
And you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts
and presents are not promises
And you begin to accept your defeats
with your head up and your eyes open,
With the grace of an adult,
not the grief of a child.
And you learn to build all your roads on today
because tomarrow's road is too uncertain for plans.
After a while you learn that even sunshine burns
if you get too much.
So plant fyour own garden, and decorate your own soul,
instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.
And you learn that you really can endure.
That you really are strong.
And that you really do have worth.
So what do you think? Pretty powerful, huh? Make sure to comment! Thanks!

  1. Thanks for sharing Ellie. This was like a warm memory, because I first discovered this when I was about your age, wrote it down somewhere, and had forgotten all about it. Wise words.
