Frozen in a Life of Gray By: Tessa Yates

The world's colors have been drawn from the picture leaving skies and cold, dark seas. Clouds stretch upon the sky making designs and patterns. It hovers over the land warning of storms. Anchored to the shore, a deserted ship stands. Damages of chips and cracks surface the wood of the craft. Slashed sails and nets cling to the sides indicating it is free from seafaring men. A young boy wearing swim trunks has bound off the bow of the ship and is suspended upside down in the air. His legs are pinched into his chest, while his arms fly freely with the wind. He has an audience of two other personages. On of the two personages is also a young boy. He has taken a breather from pedaling along the beach shore. His elbow is resting upon a balustrade while his body leans away from him. His eyes are fixed upon the scene of the sea. He is joined by another exerciser who is jogging. The jogger slows down to a saunter due to his attention being caught by the acrobatics of the diving boy. Shadows of the craft and personages gleam on the tranquil sea. The activities of the three add life and excitement to the dull colored scene. Off into the horizon, where the sky and sea meet, a pair of steamboats journey. Smoke bellows from the pipes and turns into fog as it descends into the air. Both are of a substantial size for transferring cargo from one destination to another.
The picture is life frozen in time.
