The Ancients by James Cosgrove

The dawn has come, with indigo water condensed on the horizon. A blazing lamp throws light onto brilliant architecture with intricate carvings. It stands tall and proud, unmarred by civilization. With the center hollow, curving to a close at the top, it seems like a gateway to the heavens. There are two small angel carvings at the top, guarding the way forward. Other carvings tell of battles long before our time, and you can tell it is old, made of stone. You can't help but wonder how they managed to build such a beautiful structure in an equally beautiful pace. The structure seems to glow bronze with inner radiance and reflects the light of the lamp right back at you. It looks very strong, like it has stood for many centuries, and will stand for many more.
