Holocaust and The Book Theif, by Danielle Mabe
During the Holocaust family's were being separated from each other, and in The Book Thief, Liesel had lost her mother and brother. There were parades going on all of the time, through the streets, and neighborhoods. Everyone is really stressed because they don't know if their family will be taken away. To those families it's not really about if they are going to be taken away... it's when.
What I have learned about the Holocaust, by Danielle Mabe
1. It wasn't only the Jews that were being tortured and killed. It was most people who Hitler just hated or had no patients for them.
2. Propaganda was used to brainwash that Hitler was the good guy and Jews were the enemies and they were the ones who put the Germans in that way, and Hitler was the only one who would save them.
3. The Holocaust all started after World War II, because Germany was already in a bad state. Their economy was bad enough, and they just needed someone to pull them out... then came Hitler.

what i have learned about the holocaust--- dana soweidan
1. I learned that Jehovah's Witnesses is a type of religious group that Hitler was trying to kill all of them.
3.The Nazi regime was also against other peoples, like blacks, homosexuals, disabled people, not only the Jewish people.
2. Nazis used propaganda to make their leader, Adolf Hitler, look good in front of all the people, and to make Jews look like evil people. This made people believe him.
3.The Nazi regime was also against other peoples, like blacks, homosexuals, disabled people, not only the Jewish people.
World War Two and Book Thief relations By Ellie Dow
While reading about the Holocaust and thinking about what I learned from German, I found out why some of those things happened.
The first one was when Liesel's mother gave up her kids because she couldn't take care of them. After World War One, the Germans lost a lot. They were all struggling for food, shelter, and ways to support their family. Even though Germany was getting a little bit more authority, there were still many families that were still bankrupt. Liesel's family was in that place and her mother didn't want her to starve so she gave her away.
The second one was Rudy with the charcoal on his face pretending to be Jesse Owens, when his father found him and became very angry at him. During that time period, anyone that was so called 'different' like Jesse Owens was a discrace to people like Hitler. 'Different' wasn't right to him. Rudy's father was horrified when he saw his son pretending to be black because it just wasn't right to him.
My final one is her foster mother getting mad at Liesel a lot. During hard times like World War Two, people become angry and depressed if they are stressed about what's going on in their life or what's happening to the economy. I know that she seems like an angry person, but imaging that you're in Germany during World War Two, she just got a new foster kid that makes no sense to her, they didn't that much money, and if you feel different about what Hitler thinks, you could be in a lot of trouble.
------------------------------------------------
Yesterday I went to see The Wizard of Oz at Murray High and I noticed a connection from the play and The Book Thief. There were people that worked for the witch called the Winkies an if they didn't do as she said they'd get in trouble. It was as if they were all brainwashed and thought Dorothy was the enemy, just like Hitler brainwashed most of Germnay making them think that Jews were the enemy. Even the jackets that the Winkies wore looked like Hitlers. Creepy, huh?

3 Things I learned about the Holocaust; how it connects with The Book Thief by Jasmin Delilovic
These are some of the things I have learned about the Holocaust.
1. Nazis used propaganda to make their leader, Adolf Hitler, look good, and to make Jews look like evil rats. This made people believe him.
2. I've learned that Jehovah's Witnesses is a type of religious group and that Hitler tried to eliminate them, also.
3. I've learned that the Nazi regime was also against other peoples, like blacks, homosexuals, disabled people, not only the Jew.
How do these things connect with The Book Thief? The propaganda scared Alex Stiener and made him fear for his son, Rudy, because he wanted to be like Jesse Owens, a black man. Everyone knows about the hate that goes on in The Book Thief against jews, blacks, homosexuals, etc.

The Book Thief and the Holocaust by McKenzie Stauffer
The Holocaust was a terrible thing. One girl stood through that in Germany. She is known as the book thief. She lost her mother and brother. Just like many others. Many families lost each other in the Holocaust. There were 11 millions people killed and 6 million of those were Jews. Hilter hated the Jews and other races that weren't "Aryans". His way of getting rid of them was to kill them and "brainwash" the communtiy to think that they were bad. He had this posted on billboards and magazines. Hitler also had this taught in schools. The book thief went to school and so she was learning this. To hate the Jews. In the end it all comes down to which side we choose to stand on. Marcus Zusak really makes you feel like you are there seeing the Nazi partys parade down the street. It really opens up your eyes to a whole new way of seeing.

The Book Thief By Ellie Dow
Some people look at this book and say,"It's just another World War Two story. Why should I read it?" This book isn't just any World War Two story, it's more than that. it's about a little girl who's mother can no longer take care of her kids so she sends them to a new family. While on the train her brother dies out of the blue. While they are digging his grave one of the diggers drops their book on the ground and walks away. The girl picked up the book and kept it with her when she lived with the new family. She didn't pick this book because she wanted to read it, she didn't even know how to read when she arrived. She kept that book because it lingered of her last moments with her brother and mother.
Markus Zusak is a brilliant writer and because of that this is a born classic! He describes the scenery like you would never picture it, but when his captivating words reach your deep, inner thoughts it's as if you're actually there.
I believe that everyone should read this book now because times are hard and having a prospective on another time period, maybe people would become more grateful.

Love? By Ellie Dow
Today in english Mrs. LaFortune asked us to list our fears and dream. All of mine were pretty random but there was one thing that I put on both sides, to love. In some ways I'm dying to love someone, but in the process of finding love, you'll be hurt.Love Fears
Every boy and girl wonders this, I like this boy/girl, but if I tell her how I feel I could get hurt. Yes, I know what you're all thinking, get the guts to do it. But really, would you do it? Think about it, most of the stuff that peole say that they'll do, they won't actually do it. No wonder that one of the Valentine's day signs are a heart with an arrow going through it.
Love Dreams
I dream about this everyday, every night,LOVE. I look at the way that my parents look at each other. It's the look of love. I'm a person that loves to love and care about people and I hope that one day I'll meet a guy that will repay that love back to me. Most of my dreams have to do with having the guy that I like like me in return. The most wonderful thing in the world isn't money, it's love.
Love can hurt sometimes, but if you hide from it and never conquer that fear it will feed off of you for the rest of your life. Love is like going to a swimming pool with a diving board, you can jump off and never know what's goind to happen, or you can walk away from it.
Everyone has their own opinion about love. As you can see I have chosen to conquer it. But that's not your opinion. Make sure to comment about what you agree with at the bottom. This is like a debate, you can say your opinion about it, but if someone has a different opinion you cannot call it stupid or make fun of it or else it will be deleted. I hope youhave enjoyed hearing about loves ups and downs. Thank you!

Wild Horses, by Marisa B.
Wild Horses what is your secret?
To plunge into danger without a thought
To save others lives
Regardless of your own
To outrun the wind
And play with the sky
To dance among stars
And give face to Freedom
How do you do it?
What is your secret?
------
Original title right?:) Tell me what you think, I'd love to hear from you guys.

Saving Me by Melissa T. Brummett
I am smitten,
By this apparition,
Scared to death,
'Cause there's nothing left,
To hold on to.
I feel its anger,
My life in danger,
My bloody dreams,
Tearing at the seams,
Of my sanity.
And then there's you,
And everything you do,
You had to be so brave,
Pulling me away,
From Death.
But even though you're breathing,
I can feel you leaving,
You are dying,
So stop lying,
About it.
This ghost,
Wants to make me its host,
Death in its eyes,
Its wailing cries,
For salvation.
And then there's you,
And everything you do,
You had to be so brave,
Pulling me from my grave,
Into the light.
I'm fighting as hard as I can,
And this is something you can't understand,
Yet you try so viligantly,
Making this almost humiliating,
Watching you fall for me,
Into the Black Sea,
I can't stop you,
From being a fool,
Saving me.
I feel so dead,
My mind is like lead,
A macabre feeling in the air,
Do I dare,
Touch you.

Best Play Ever!!! By: Janelle Leppink
I just went to the Hale Centre Theater and saw the play, "Curtains." It was really good and it was an interesting set. It was a murder mystery/ love story/musical! Can you imagine it? Although this play was amazing, the play I saw a few months ago, "THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL!" was by far the best play I have ever seen. I loved that play so much, that I am furious that they will not be playing it for another four years! I can't believe it! I love going to plays and seeing live theater! It is a really good way to have fun! I'm wearing my ruby satin! Because it shimmers, bllllller!! Hahaha! See you guys!
Friends- Jasmine Crespo (Please read if you have Friends!)
My friends will most likely kill me for posting videos of them. Friends are those who help you when you are down. I love all my friends. That is why two years ago I took videos of them. Memories are important to. These videos are of my friends Melissa Brummett and Marisa Bell. They've stood by me all these years, tell your friends that you love them, for, you never know what will happen next.

Forgive -Rhiannon Cordova
Hi everyone! I just wanted to share this beautiful poem my dad wrote for me from prison. This poem sent tears to my eyes and I just wanted all of you to read it. Enjoy!
Forgive the sun who didn't shine,
The sky had asked her to dine,
Forgive the stars that heard your wish,
The moon prepared their favorite dish.
Forgive the rain for its attack,
The clouds have tears they can't hold back.
Don't hate the birds 'cause they are free,
Don't envy all the things they see.
Don't block the wind, but hear its cry,
Or else that wind might pass you by.
Forgive the storm, it means no harm,
Don't hate the sun, because too much burns.
Life intends not to cause pain,
The flowers bloom from all the rain.
The storm will come and it will pass,
The sun that shines grows the grass.
The wind cannot help but cry,
The stars at night light up the sky.
Forgive the world in which we live,
We'll all find peace if we just forgive.
Forgive the sun who didn't shine,
The sky had asked her to dine,
Forgive the stars that heard your wish,
The moon prepared their favorite dish.
Forgive the rain for its attack,
The clouds have tears they can't hold back.
Don't hate the birds 'cause they are free,
Don't envy all the things they see.
Don't block the wind, but hear its cry,
Or else that wind might pass you by.

Isaac's prsuasive essay (its awesome and it about Zombies)

Zombies!
Hillcrest Junior High is at risk! The school is not prepared against a zombie outbreak. When zombies rise, the hospital will be one of the first places to turn, and HJH is across the street from it. The school will just be an addition to the horde, unless the students are educated on how to take on the horde. HJH should have a Zombie Awareness Group (ZAG) held after school. ZAG will educate students and by doing this it will increase the chance of multiple people surviving; it would also lower the size of the horde. ZAG will also help the educated students not worry or risk their lives as much to save the uneducated students.
Educating students will increase the chance of multiple survivors when an outbreak happens. This is because students will know the smart things to do in an outbreak, the best way to fight a zombie horde, and how to create a base to survive with zombies wandering the streets. The students will learn in ZAG little tips to deal with them when they rise, like “ideal protection = tight clothes, short hair” or “keep moving keep low keep quit keep alert!” (Quotes from: The Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks) Students will also learn ways to deal with the horde like “blades don’t need reloading” or “use your head, cut off theirs”. Lastly, students will learn in ZAG how to hide from the horde in a home, or a school better so they will know basic things like to have an escape route if the zombies break in through their barricade.
When ZAG is created, it will make the horde incredibly smaller because more students would have the knowledge to combat the horde thus there will be less zombies for everyone else to deal with. ZAG will also teach students how to survive the horde, and if they are alive they are not a zombie adding to it. Lastly, ZAG might even stop a zombie outbreak before it gets too big. This can happen because the students will be able to notice the beginning signs of an outbreak and stop it where it starts.
Now, if kids that would attend ZAG put what they will learn to use, there would be a lot more students that know what they are doing and that can help try to save everyone else instead of they themselves needing to be saved and as it says in the zombie survival guide “organize before they rise” because “ignorance is the undead strongest ally, knowledge is there strongest enemy” Wouldn’t that be better than everyone being confused and needing saving?
ZAG will educate students so multiple people will survive and it will lower the size of the horde, lastly but not in the least it will help the educated students not have to risk their lives to save as much of the uneducated students. Join everyone that want ZAG up and running so the students at HJH will be prepared when the dead rise wanting human flesh, and who knows, we could just save the world.

Look Away (Song Lyrics by Jasmine Crespo)
Look Away- Jasmine Crespo
I know you
You know me
Why’re you starin’ so intently?
At my face
That I can tell
For you look away
When I look back
When will our eyes meet?
Then it gets dark and black
When I’m alone again
It’s the highlight of my day...
Then you look away.
You know me
I know you
What am I supposed to do?
When I see you, smiling at me?
Smile back; giggle too.
But you know that that’s not me!
I’ll smile I’ll wave,
As long as you look back.
For you look away
When I look back
When will our eyes meet?
Then it gets dark and black
When I’m alone again
It’s the highlight of my day...
Then you look away.
Now I’m here
All alone,
Until you look back
I’m crushin’,
Blood rushin’
Waiting for you...
For you look away
When I look back
When will our eyes meet?
Then it gets dark and black
When I’m alone again
It’s the highlight of my day...
Then you look away.
I’ve had enough of this.
That’s a total lie.
I can’t help this feeling
That’s inside!
For I know you
You know me,
And you stare so intently
At my face I can tell...
For you look away
When I look back
When will our eyes meet?
Then it gets dark and black
When I’m alone again
It’s the highlight of my day...
Then you look away.
Just one day,
Just one hour,
Just one minute,
Of you staring at me
I’ll look back
And see your eyes on mine
For you look away
When I look back
When will our eyes meet?
Then it gets dark and black
When I’m alone again
It’s the highlight of my day...
Then you look away.
Until now...
When I look back
And see your face
Smiling at me
I light up inside
Filled up with pride
For you looked back!
For you look away
When I look back
When will our eyes meet?
Then it gets dark and black
When I’m alone again
It’s the highlight of my day...
Then you look away.
I know you
You know me
Why’re you starin’ so intently?
At my face
That I can tell
For you look away

NaNoWriMo -Rhiannon Cordova
I've singned up for NaNoWriMo, but I have no ideas whatsoever. What kind of a story do you think I sould write? I really want to write a mystery, but then I find myself wanting to write some sort of realistic fiction young adult novel. Give me your ideas, because if I can't come up with anything, I might just give up!
